Mister Finch

I came across one of these beautiful butterflies on Pinterest the other day...but sadly there was no link or credit to the maker!  I just happened upon Mister Finch's shop this morning and the mystery was solved! Mister Finch is vintage found object/soft sculpture artist living in Leeds in Yorkshire, England whose bio included this gem: I collect fairytale books, miniature metal chairs and love to hoard things in glass jars. I knew I had found a kindred spirit, indeed! Enjoy and be sure to admire his sold collection of work on Etsy too! xo

Hello, Blog? It's me, Katie! Lately I've just been enjoying being in (well, actually working, painting, unpacking, settling in) our new home here in snowy Indianapolis. I hope to continue posting now...oh, dear! Where did the time go? These magical photographs of handmade papercut and illustrated dioramas by Elly Mackay have stolen my heart today and I hope you might enjoy them too. xo

A Big Ol' Thank You to my friend, Heather Baker of Bebe + Alice for the kindest housewarming surprises in the mail yesterday! (And I don't even have the house yet-please say a prayer and cross your fingers for us- as we have hit a another roadblock!) Anyhoo- Its been a long time coming for me to post about Bebe + Alice, (now two shops!) where she offers a wide selection of her  sweet upcycled vintage handmade home and wearable goods. This is one industrious and inspired woman and I am so thankful to have found such a lovely friend via the internets!  xoxo

art and heirlooms...

Thanks to Amy's Storque article, I got myself in gear last week and made a few new pieces for my Etsy shop. Which was hard to do as we are currently homeless but blessed to be staying with my in-laws for the time being. I was able to visit home recently and my mom and I spent some time sorting through boxes of old family treasures- many of which I used in these pieces- my Aunt Helen's costume jewelry, and our great- grandmother's amazing millinery bridal headpiece. (Don't worry, I was careful and we kept many special pieces for the future- but most is better preserved in art, right? Anyway, I hope they would be pleased.) xo

Hooray for my bff, co-creator and Director of shopSCAD, Amy Zurcher for her fantastic guest post on the Storque today! (I think photographer, Adam Kuehl did an amazing job capturing the sweet spirit and wild creative energy of Amy and the shop-so I'm shamelessly reposting several of them!)
PS. Thanks as always, Amy for sharing the spotlight with me...you are truly my greatest fan! xoxo

The sweetly homespun details of Inge de Jonge's art and handicrafts have me reeling with warm fuzzy thoughts of friends and family today.  I believe she has a brick and mortar shop in Avignon, France  (if you are lucky enough to be in that region) and thankfully for the rest of us she has set up shop, Message d'Amour on Etsy!

Behold the handcrafted wonders of Laurie Cinotto!
I admire her creative work so very much as well as the rescue work she does through her Itty Bitty Kitty Committee! I've been marveling my way through her glorious photos all morning! xo

Laurie's toppers are special in that her arrangements are created using
millinery leaves and baubles mixed with her handmade crepe paper flowers!

You can support her rescue operations by purchasing these sweet kitteh mugs through Laurie's IBKC shop or tell all your friends in the Seattle area about her wonderful rescue operation: IBKC! xo

Needing something lovely and light to ponder...I look to the talented Holly of Golly Bard. Of course, I'm drawn to her birds and nests... but am so much more captivated by her color palette and fine details. Watercolor is very difficult for me and I have immense respect for those who command it so masterfully! Her Flickr Album is packed with treasures...looksee here. xo
